What Makes You an “It Girl”?
I think an “It Girl” is a woman who knows who she is all and embraces her own unique attributes (even the less stunning ones) instead of trying to be a carbon copy of someone else or live according to someone else’s blueprint.. After many years of soul-searching and teetering in my stilettos, I feel like I have truly made a place for myself under that headline! Having felt the freedom that comes when you toss the societal timeline, walk your own journey, live your own life and learn your own lessons, I now work hard to share my experiences with my readers to encourage them to do the same.
What Inspires You?
My readers, friends and grandfather inspire me constantly. I am inspired by authenticity and the human spirit. I believe there is wisdom to be found in every person, place, work of art and experience we come across; we just have to be open receiving it. One of the most inspiring statements I ever heard came from a homeless man who was asking for food in Manhattan. There were many people ignoring him and finally his spirit yelled out, “Please don’t ignore me! I have a soul! I have feelings and I matter too!” I think of that man every day.
It Girl picks:
I am a total girlie-girl when it comes to what I call my “Goddess Products.” I am completely mad for Molton Brown (especially Wild Indigo), I think L’Oreal Sublime in Medium-Dark is from the heavens and worship at the altar of Dr. Perricone. His skin care system has completely changed my complexion. Other things I love: Biosilk Silk Therapy, Bath and Body Aromatherapy lotion in Orange Ginger, Vaseline firming lotion, Palmers Coco Butter, Shu Uemura eyelash curler, Mac eyeliner in Plum and Bare Essentials mineral makeup. Alpha Lipoic Acid. You may not think of a vitamin as a beauty product but it’s incredible. The list is endless!
Who does you consider an “It Girl”?
Marilyn Monroe is the ultimate “It Girl” in my eyes as is Madonna. My friend, Yinh is a total “It Girl” as well. She’s gorgeous, successful, independent, and brilliant and sets her own trends. I think she’s fantastic.
