Tired of expensive drinks and a bar scene crowded by frat boys? New York City’s Second Avenue pub scene has the answer. 925, a sleek and stylish cocktail bar & café located at 800 Second Avenue (at 42nd Street), is now open for business. All cocktails and food items at 925 are affordably priced at $9, $5 or $2 so that customers don’t have to break the bank to experience the best of New York City nightlife. The prices are low but 925’s décor is decidedly upscale and boasts a tranquil setting with a captivating 6-foot fish tank and a custom-designed wooden bar. Designed to attract a sophisticated clientele, 925 does not admit male patrons under the age of 25 and the bar will not allow more than 40 people inside at any one time.
Alex Nicholas, the owner of 925, is also the proprietor of the popular KEATS Restaurant and Bar at 842 Second Avenue. Alex’s own frustration with the watered down and overpriced drinks frequently served at other New York City bars inspired him to create 925. “I came to the idea for 925 when I ordered a $15.00 Jack Daniels that did not taste like Jack Daniels. This area is calling for a place that can offer a superior quality at an honest value.” Alex plans to open additional 925 locations and other concept bars to fill the growing consumer demand for affordable elegance.
925 serves an impressive variety of cocktails, including the Classic Martini, the Pink Sapphire, the Chocolate Covered Cherry and the Mojito. White and red wines are also available by the glass. Menu items include the signature Asian Dragon Wings, various Panini sandwiches and the Shrimp & Martini Cocktail. The eye catching and delicious Chocolate Shelled Truffle Pyramid is available for dessert. Those looking to grab a quick bite to eat at lunchtime can order all menu items to go from 925’s retro and clever walk-up window.
