Do men run when they hit your bedroom, or do you have a hard time getting them to leave?

The Love Shack: “It’s a little old place where we can get together,” as so eloquently stated by the B52’s, but they forgot to tell you something important, it’s also a place men use to judge women to figure out who they really are. If your bachelorette pad is sending him running for the hills, you may have to makeover you pad to ensure it’s guy-friendly if you think the next one coming over is keeper.

Here are a few quick tips to make sure your Love Shack is ready for the next Boy Slumber Party:

1. Get rid of any thing on the front door, knick knacks are a no-no.
Yes, it’s marvelous that you like to put out pumpkins for Halloween and macrame art that you created in that night course you took, but he’s not interested in seeing it just yet. Decorative door mats in an apartment can also be alarming if they are filled with flowers or cartoon like images.

The Reason: Men like simplicity. Greeting him with a door full of your favorite saying could have him saying goodbye before you get him inside.

2. Family photos in small quantities.
Yes, you should be proud of your dad and the 10-thousand pound trout he caught last year. And, once day he will love to see you snuggling with your sister six month old triplets, but for now, don’t alarm with too many photos that will make him feel like he is being watched.

The Reason: Again, keep it simple. If your Aunt Mary portrait is starting back at him from the wall, he may feel like he is being judged and in that case you are never getting to the bedroom.

3. Say Ta-Ta to your weight loss products [at least for the night]
An empty fridge is not “cool” to a guy, in fact, it has quite the opposite affect.  Girls who love to brag about the fact that they can’t cook are not “hot” in the minds of most men. Stock up on some guy-friendly foods [see list below] to make sure your company has a full stomach and is only starving for your love.

The Reason: Men like to think they will be taken care of. They don’t want to picture you nuking a frozen dinner and throwing it down in front of them for the next 30 years.

The items in your fridge and pantry should be staples for you, but here are the right things to have on hand just in case he stops by:
bottled water
soda [diet and regular]
beer
wine [unopened]
apples or pears
cheese
assorted crackers [NOT saltines]
walnuts/dried apricots
mixed nuts
peppermint candies
coffee [just in case he spends the night]
powdered creamer
bagels or bread of your choice
